About Miracles in Action Press

Miracles in Action Press, LLC was formed in New Hampshire, USA in late 2007. While researching material for a book on the copyright controversy of A Course in Miracles, a motherload of information was discovered not only on that subject, but also on the several unique versions of A Course in Miracles that have come into circulation since its first appearance in the late 1960's. The curator of all this information, comprising over 10,000 pages of material, is Doug Thompson of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. As it turns out, information on the copyright was the tip of Mr. Thompsons information iceberg as he was also working on scholarly editions and other projects related to this divine work first produced by Drs. Helen Schucman and William Thetford, the "Scribes" chosen by Jesus to receive and record the original dictation.
What started out as a quest for information for a book on the copyright story led to my asking Mr. Thompson who he had in mind for publishing his extensive scholarly work. Not having been guided to a major publishing house and not wanting to publish it himself, he asked further guidance in the decision of selecting a publisher. The answer he received was akin to "continue working on the project and when it's nearly ready for publishing, the phone will ring...." That was my lucky day....

MIAP is a start-up (11/2007) publishing business based on the public domain works of A Course in Miracles, also known as the "Work." MIAP’s publishing of Doug Thompson’s A Course in Miracles Urtext Manuscripts is the first professionally bound edition of the Urtext to be offered through traditional channels in the book industry. It is also the first ACIM volume to introduce footnotes to references of variant readings and Biblical themes discussed in the teaching as well as the first to offer a complete digital library package (website and DVD) for teachers and students to explore the source materials from which other versions of ACIM were drawn.
Why partner? MIAP needs funding to make things happen and I can better serve the Work by focusing on sales and marketing which are my areas of expertise. A partner with a sense of humor and extensive experience studying and teaching A Course in Miracles or a varied professional background in publishing, social work, ministerial, psychiatry and/or intellectual property would be a great fit...

All startups need lots of funding to get off the ground. The 1st editions of ACIM had several contributors without whom it may never have made it past the early "xeroxed" editions. You will help Miracles in Action Press spread the "Work" by making a donation to be used for samples, review, and library copies or even sponsor a print run of 1000 books or tradeshow! Donors may be memorialized in a special edition of ACIM.
All donations of $1000 or more receive 5 free copies of the Urtext manuscripts with DVD per $1000 donated.
