Using the Menu System

There is a vast amount of material on this website, several gigabytes currently and it is increasing every few weeks.  It began in 2002 with text files of the Urtext and the HLC and it all fit into 10 Megabytes.  Currently it is pushing 10 Gigabytes.

Even for me, who rather knows what is here, were it not reasonably well organized, it would be difficult to find anything.  The purpose of the menu system is to A) help make it clear to a newcomer what is here and B) help anyone find anything in particular.

There are several very different kinds of data present and I’ve attempted to organize this in logical categories and most pages are linked from several others, so there are many possible ways of getting from one to another.  EVERYTHING, however, can be found by following down the chain from the top main menu.

There are five top level divisions:

1)    Reference Room

2)    Reading Room

3)    Listening Room

4)    Bookstore

5)    Links

Within each division there are a number of sub-divisions.  At the top of each page there will be a link to return to the main menu and on many pages there are links to each of the five “divisions.”  At any time your browser’s “Back” button will take you to whatever page you were on previously.

“Menu Options” are mostly listed in the left hand navigation panel, and primary menu files which show up on the right primarily provide explanations and more details about those options.

The “Reference Room” includes the kind of material you’d expect in the reference section of a library.  Briefly that includes Primary Sources copies of the original manuscripts in facsimile and e-text, it includes reference material such as Concordances and Glossaries, and it includes Secondary Sources such as essays and research papers on various topics related to A Course in Miracles,  and the FAQ for Frequently Asked Questions.

The “Reading Room” includes a variety of copies of the Course in every version with an emphasis on ease of use on a computer monitor.  There is considerable overlap in the base content with the Reference Room, the difference being how the material is formatted.  In the “Reading Room” the emphasis is on optimizing things for viewing on a computer monitor.

The “Listening Room” includes the material in audio format.  This includes some interesting historical recordings along with discussions on particular topics, including recordings of past ACIM Gather broadcasts.

The “Bookstore” is just that, a place to order any of the print or digital publications currently available.

In the “Links” section I list a number of other websites where material I feel to be of interest and value can be found.
